Assistant Treasurer Job Description
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Type:
- Part-Time: Up to 50 hours per month depending on time of year; Evenings and weekends, optional
- Salary: $26 – $32, commensurate with experience
Overview:
To serve as an Assistant Treasurer to the Church Council Treasurer at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church; The ideal candidate will be able to manage contributions, payroll preparation, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting using Church Windows software.
Responsibilities:
- Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including offerings, donations, and other income, in Church Windows
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Prepare and process monthly payroll in coordination with church leadership
- Reconcile bank statements monthly and maintain accurate ledgers
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the pastor and finance committee
- Maintain donor contribution records and prepare annual giving statements
- Assist in annual budget preparation and provide financial analysis as needed
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, payroll laws, policies, and church internal controls
- Attend quarterly finance committee meetings, and workers compensation audits
Skills and Behaviors:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), E-mail and office equipment (phone systems, copiers, etc.)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Friendly and approachable demeanor with a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in a nonprofit or church setting preferred
- Confidentiality, integrity, and organizational skills
