Assistant Treasurer Job Description

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Type:

  • Part-Time: Up to 50 hours per month depending on time of year; Evenings and weekends, optional
  • Salary: $26 – $32, commensurate with experience

Overview:

To serve as an Assistant Treasurer to the Church Council Treasurer at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church; The ideal candidate will be able to manage contributions, payroll preparation, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting using Church Windows software.

 Responsibilities:

  • Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including offerings, donations, and other income, in Church Windows
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll in coordination with church leadership
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the pastor and finance committee
  • Maintain donor contribution records and prepare annual giving statements
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and provide financial analysis as needed
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, payroll laws, policies, and church internal controls
  • Attend quarterly finance committee meetings, and workers compensation audits

Skills and Behaviors:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), E-mail and office equipment (phone systems, copiers, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor with a service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
